Music Ministry

Choral excellence, joyful participation, and music woven into the heart of Trinity's worship since 1887.

The Sound of Trinity

Music as a Ministry of Worship

Music has always been central to worship at Trinity Episcopal Church. Under the direction of Music Director Robert E. Barney โ€” now in his 32nd year of service to the parish โ€” the music program encompasses multiple choirs for all ages, a rich calendar of special musical events, and a commitment to choosing music that deepens the congregation's encounter with God.

Preludes, Postludes, Anthems, and Hymns are all chosen to complement the Lectionary readings for each service. The Music Director works closely with the Rector and Assistant Rector to plan music and liturgy that shapes the whole arc of worship โ€” mixing the familiar and beloved with newer expressions that add fresh dimension to our common prayer.

Whether you are a lifelong singer, a newcomer to choral music, or simply someone who loves to worship with great hymns, Trinity's music ministry offers a place for you. Choirs rehearse weekly and the welcome is genuine โ€” voices of every kind are needed and valued.

Our Ensembles

A Choir for Every Age

Trinity maintains four active choral ensembles serving different age groups and worship roles. Rehearsals follow the Royal School of Church Music program, weaving together singing technique, Liturgy, music reading, and church history and theology.

๐ŸŽต

Parish Choir

Trinity's Adult Choir

The heart of Trinity's musical life, the Parish Choir sings at every Sunday 10:00 AM service all summer long, as well as Christmas, Lessons & Carols, Holy Week, Easter, Choral Evensong services, and at funerals. The chorus of more than 20 dedicated singers brings choral depth and leadership to congregational worship week after week.

Rehearsals: Thursday Evenings and Sundays at 9:00 AM
Contact: Speak to Robert Barney or any choir member

Youth Choir

For school-age singers

The Youth Choir leads music for "All In" 10:00 AM First Sunday services, as well as Christmas, Lessons & Carols, Holy Week, and Easter. They also offered a well-attended Choral Evensong service in December. Rehearsals follow the Royal School of Church Music program, and the current group's consistent attendance and singing quality are a source of great pride for the parish.

Calling all young singers! Speak to Robert Barney or your parents to learn more.

Junior Choir

Budding young voices

The Junior Choir reached an exciting milestone in 2025, making their first participation in worship on All Saints Sunday. The group of three singers continues to grow, and the Music Director hopes more young singers will join soon.

Interested parents: Contact Robert Barney directly for more information about the program.

Handbell Choir

A new and growing ensemble

Trinity now has a Handbell Choir, made possible through the generous gift of the use of handbells from Al and Juanita Healy. Bell ringing is a wonderful way to participate in the musical life of the church and requires minimal prior training or experience. The group is directed by Juanita Healy.

Interested in joining? Speak to Robert Barney or Juanita Healy.

Lend Your Voice

Everyone Can Sing

Trinity's music program is actively seeking singers of all voice types. The Parish Choir is particularly looking for basses and tenors, though altos and sopranos are warmly welcome too.

For parents of young children, the Junior and Youth Choir programs offer children an exceptional musical education grounded in the Royal School of Church Music's curriculum. Contact other parish families whose children have been through the program to hear more about the experience.
