Dear friends,
We find ourselves here at Advent 4…and we light the fourth candle on the Advent wreath. This is the candle of Love. Not love as a feeling, or love as a romantic ideal, but love as a gritty reality….a challenge…what does it mean to love God and our neighbor above all else? Advent challenges us to to hope, to hope for a Savior and to hope for ourselves...that we might finally live into that calling to be people who love our neighbors as we love ourselves. To be people who love and trust God through Jesus. As we light this candle of Love, may we find ourselves open to a new life, a life transformed by Christmas, a life filled with hope for salvation, As we light this 4th candle, may we know ourselves to be beloved, to be children of God, brothers and sisters to one another, valuable and precious people alive right now who make a difference in our world! Let us rejoice in God our Savior who calls us to love one another and to risk our lives on the story of love.
Advent blessings,
Nancy+
