Dear Friends,
I am beyond delighted, in my final Window message before sabbatical, to announce that we have hired a new, full-time Minister for Youth and Families!!! The Rev. Julia Matallana Freedman will be joining the Trinity team on Monday, September 19. Julia F. comes to us from St. James' in Cambridge, MA where she has served in a part-time role leading children and youth ministry for the past three years. She is ordained in the Free Methodist tradition and earned her M.Div. from Duke Divinity School in 2018. Julia F. will connect with parents and children from birth through high school, and will work with Rev. Christopher and me to promote intergenerational initiatives for all of us in worship, outreach, and formation.
Julia F. is eager to meet you and will be focused initially on recruiting adult volunteers to help our wonderful Church School teachers begin the year, as well as encouraging everyone to come to the Blessing of the Animals on October 2 at 5 pm, and the Build a Bed Day (Oct. 15). We also look forward to hearing her preach and having her participate in worship as a lector and being on the team for Noonday Prayer and Choral Evensong. She is not able to celebrate the Eucharist or other sacraments here at Trinity (baptisms, weddings) since she is not an Epis
copal priest, although that could happen down the road. We are delighted to have such a faithful, enthusiastic new partner in ministry. Please see Julia F's note below, and be sure to introduce yourself on her first Sunday, Sept. 25!
Blessings,
Nancy+
PS - If you have been paying attention, you have noted that our two newest staff members are both named Julia! Julia Mish is our new Bookkeeper and will be referred to as "Julia M" and Julia Freedman is our new Minister for Youth and Families and will be referred to as "Julia F." We just finished the era of Nancy M. and Nancy H. so we know how to do this! ;-).
A Message from the Rev. Julia M. Freedman
