The Magdalene College Chapel Choir

The Choir will give a concert performance in the nave at 7:00 pm on Friday, June 22. The Choir comprises 26 young men and women who sing at Evensong and on festivals and other occasions during the academic term at Cambridge University.  They also sing regularly in London and elsewhere in the UK, they tour internationally every two or three years, and they have numerous recordings on CD and online.  They will perform at Trinity and two other churches during their June 2018 tour of New England.

Founded in 1428 as a hostel for Benedictine student-monks and re-founded in 1542 by Henry VIII’s Lord Chancellor, Magdalene College has been inextricably linked to both academic study and the Church of England for nearly 600 years. Today, Magdalene (pronounced “Maudlyn”) is one of the smallest and most traditional of the ancient colleges at Cambridge University and is a residential community of about 500 students and 100 fellows.

The College Chapel, built in the 1470’s, has served continuously as the College’s spiritual center. Further details about Magdalene College can be found at

Request for Housing – We need about 15 parishioners to offer rooms for men and women (ages 19 to 23) in groups of two or more. They will arrive in the afternoon of Thursday, June 21 and depart the morning of Saturday, June 23.  They will have activities in Concord and/or Boston on Friday before the concert and will have lunch and dinner elsewhere on Friday.  It would be helpful if host families could provide transportation to and from Trinity during the students’ visit. This will be a great opportunity to meet bright and able students from overseas and to share their perspectives on our common cultures, music, and the world. Your assistance is essential to enabling Trinity to bring this excellent choral group to Concord. If you can help, please contact Robert Chartener at Robert at chartener dot com.
